Unique knitting stitches to make your knitting fun!
Whether you’re just learning or you’re a seasoned pro, the most common knitting stitches you’ll use are the knit stitch and purl stitch in various combinations. But let’s face it: they can get pretty boring after a while.
That’s where new knitting stitches come in. So if you’re hungry for new knitting styles, give these stitches a try! And use these new knitting stitches for some challenging new knitting for charity projects too
1. Feather and Fan Stitch:
This cute and interesting stitch lends an air of elegance to even the simplest scarf.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit two together three times. Yarn over, knit one six times. Knit two together three more times. Repeat these ten stitches to the end of the row.
Row 4: Knit
Repeat this pattern to create the feather and fan stitch.
2. Bamboo Stitch:
This is one of the easier knitting stitches you’ll find, but it can be a bit tricky to do a yarn over at the very beginning of a row. What you’ll have to do is make sure you wrap the yarn around the needle before you start knitting.
Row 1: Yarn over, knit two. Pass the yarn over both knit stitches. Repeat to the end of the row.
Row 2: Purl
3. Ripple Stitch:
This is perfect for a scarf or an afghan — anything that would benefit from a wave-like ripple spreading across it. The pattern is knit over 14 stitches.
Knit as follows:
Row 1: Knit 6, (purl 2, knit 6 and repeat to end of row)
Row 2: Knit 1, (purl 4, knit 4, purl 4, knit 1 to end of row)
