What's Your Knitting Personality?

Just for fun -- find out your knitting personality

What's a knitting personality? Well, we all have one. Get a group of knitters together and you'll have people from all ages, walks of life, religions, and philosophies, all of them open to conversation and debate -- as long as you've got a skein full of yarn and a few needles. And if you don't, what the heck. Someone'll lend them to you.

1. The Dedicated Knitter

Ranging in age from 18 to 80, this knitter is never without a ball of yarn and needles. She's the one arguing with the security guard in the airport about whether her bamboo needles constitute a lethal weapon. She's not trying to hold you up, though -- the idea of five hours without knitting is terrifying to her.

For the dedicated knitter, it's not so much about what she makes -- it's just that she's making it. Incidentally, dedicated knitters have the perfect knitting personality for a charity crafter!

2. The Adventurous Knitter

You all know this person -- maybe it's you! The adventurous knitter is always looking for something new to try. Every time you see her, she's got a new pattern, skill, or yarn -- and usually a pile of projects "on hold" in a basket. It's not that she's fickle -- it's just that she can't wait to try out something new!

3. The Meticulous Knitter

My knitting personality is anything but meticulous, so I don't know how they do it -- but these people can continue the tiniest stitches for hours on end, methodically working row after row and turning out a beautiful project that looks like you bought it in a store. Not a single flaw, dropped stitch, or missed count -- and they look so calm and grandma-like while they're doing it, even the young girls!

4. The Political Knitter

We all know one or two of these -- people who seem to see knitting as less of a hobby and more of a political statement. They only use organic cotton yarn, they're vegetarians, and they'll happily get into a loud, angry debate over politics -- all the while keeping the needles clicking. These knitters have a secret: at heart, they love the craft as much as the talk!

Did you spot your knitting personality? It's not an exhaustive list, but it'll do for a start. I'll leave you to guess where my knitting personality falls on the list!
