Want to Become an Angel? Join Knitting Charities

Feeling angelic? You will when you help these knitting charities

There are knitting charities and then there are knitting charities. All knitting charities are good but some go way above and beyond the call of duty. Such is the case with the Crafty Angels. This group is one busy group of knitters who serve not one, but several charities by supplying them with beautiful, hand-knit items. Come on. Be an angel and help these ladies out.

The Crafty Angels

The Crafty Angels began in 2001 by Rev. Christine Pokorny of Edgebrook Covenant Church. The Reverend ministers to those in need in the Chicago area. She also wanted to provide an outlet for those who wanted to serve others. She accomplished both.

Filled with the desire to eliminate poverty and help others, Christine formed the Crafty Angels charity knitting group and invited women of all ages who had the desire to use their knitting skills to help others. These ladies love knitting for charity and help several charities.

Together, these angels help the Conerstone Community Outreach, the Good News Community Kitchen, the Swedish Covenant Hospital, and Parenting Progress. As you can see, these angels are busy and can use all the help you would like to give them.

How you can help

Always needed are warm hats, scarves, and mittens in a variety of sizes for the families the Crafty Angels serve at Cornerstone Community Outreach. Community outreach is a homeless shelter and these items are much appreciated by the families who have fallen on hard times.

The men at the Good News Community Kitchen love the warm hats and both the Swedish Covenant Hospital and Parenting Progress groups love the mittens, hats, and baby sweaters.

If you would like to become an angel, it's easy. Knit items and mail them to:

The angels are also happy to accept donations of yarn and knitting supplies. To see pictures of past items donated by angels visit The Crafty Angel knitting for charity website. All the lovely baby sweaters, mittens, and toboggans will inspire you.

Why don't you become an angel and knit for charity? It's easy, fun and fulfilling. You may not become an actual angel but when you help knitting charities, you'll definitely feel like one.
