The Lazy Woman's Guide to Knit Patterns

Knit patterns you can find the easy way

Knit patterns are a dime a dozen, did you know that? Actually, knit patterns are pretty much FREE, if you know where to look. And there's literally thousands of knit patterns available, for anything you can ever imagine knitting!

WHERE TO FIND KNIT PATTERNS

The number one source of knit patterns for me these days is the Internet. I'd recommend that you sign up for a few knitting discussion groups, for starters -- for example, at Yahoo or MSN, where there are dozens of choices. You can even find separate groups for knitting socks, knitting scarves, knitting shawls -- almost any kind of knitting you can think of is represented! -- and you'll be able to get knit patterns from all of them.

Once you're a member of a knitting discussion group, check in the group files for knit patterns - every group seems to have lots of them! You can also ask your fellow list members where they find their knit patterns - you can bet you'll be inundated with ideas, websites and links to lots of them!

OTHER SOURCES OF KNIT PATTERNS

Are you a member of a local knitting guild? (If not, why not? ) You can usually find lots of knit patterns in the guild library, too - and again, ask other members where they get THEIR knit patterns.

You can also subscribe to knitting magazines - or buy them individually monthly or seasonally. I know, these are not technically free knit patterns, then... but one magazine sometimes has as many as 20 knit patterns in it, so you're getting a real bargain there!

Another place where I've found knit patterns is at the local library. It has a huge 'craft' section, and within that, a huge knitting books section, so there is no shortage of knit patterns to access there.

Finally, you can watch at thrift stores and garage sales - where knit patterns are sometimes a dime a dozen!
