The Knitters Rx -- A Cure for a Bad Day
Knitting can help you unwind after a day of spinning in circles
Have you ever had one of those days where you felt like you were being pulled in 42 different directions and nothing seemed to be going right?
Yet because of your resilient nature, you plugged on, with the hope of salvaging some semblance of accomplishment from the chaos surrounding you.
Recently I had one of those days. Whew!!
The power of knitting therapy
Post: It started off like any other day, I had my plan of various housework chores to get finished, some light yard work, a quick trip to the post office to send off some finished charity donations and then a quiet relaxing evening on the back porch watching the sun set.
Silly me for not factoring in an overflowing dishwasher, the cat getting stuck on the roof (I still don't know how he got up there), getting a phone call from my grandfather and trying to explain how to switch his TV remote back to the cable function so he could watch his shows (nearly an hour on that one my friends), tax return deadline day at the post office and my daughter bringing 5 friends home to hang out for the afternoon.
The plan that I woke up with that morning went right out the window sometime around mid day when the girls showed up.
By 6pm I was functioning on my last nerve. Finally I decided to just be done for the day and get back on plan. Time for some serious prescription knitting.
Out comes my basket with the latest project, a lovely soft baby blanket in sunshine yellow. I settle in on the swing on my back porch, soothing my frazzled nerves with a little bit of snuggling with the half way finished blanket. I pick up the needles and soon I am in my own little world as row after row emerges.
The sun sets and for a few moments the splendid sense of total complete relaxation envelopes me.
Ah, the power of the knit therapy.
Take two and call me in the morning.
