Kenny's Kaps -- A knitting charity that shows you care

I truly believe that any knitting charity is a worthwhile charity. Anytime you take your precious time to help someone in need, you are contributing to society in a meaningful way. One way to help people who need and deserve our help is that of our injured soldiers -- our wounded heroes.

Kenny's Kaps knitting charity

Created for many different reasons, knitting charities help many different people. A Sergeant in the Marine Corps who sustained a traumatic brain injury inspired Kenny's Kaps. Kenny asked for a purple skullcap to keep his head warm. A loved one knit the cap and attached a Purple Heart Patch to let others know of his injuries.

As many as 25% of our service men and women overseas sustain Traumatic Brain Injury, Kenny's Kaps provide a warm and respectful covering for the sufferers of TBI as they heal. Stitched in "Deep Purple", and embellished with the Military Order of the Purple Heart these caps let people know that the wearer has brain injuries acquired in the service of their country.

The cap is like a skullcap or watch cap and is made of worsted weight wool. If you would like to knit these caps, please use Caron One Pound in Deep Violet. This free pattern fits a medium to large adult.

Send your completed caps to:
