Need a Simple Knitting Project? Try These Dishcloths
Knit these dishcloths and washing dishes will never be the same
Don't you just love hand-knit dishcloths? Yes, I know you can go to Wal-Mart and buy packs of them. But it just isn't the same. Hand-knit dishcloths last longer than the cheapies you buy at the store and I'll confess - I love the way they feel.
Now that you know one of my weaknesses, let me give you a few of my favorite ideas for creating one-of-a-kind dishcloths you'll fall in love with.
Grandma's Dishcloth
I use this pattern all the time. Very basic, but that makes it easy for you to make your own. Ina, at The Knitting Yarn, began knitting when she was just 8-years-old and has never stopped. Maybe this is why she is so good at creating her own designs.
Visit her site and read her ideas for variations for a hanging loop, slipped edge stitching, reverse garter stitch, and adjusting the size. You'll love her ideas.
Argyle Lace Cloth
For a little touch of elegance, try this free knitting pattern. You can use this charming cloth as a dish or a washcloth. You'll feel like you've slipped into the lap of luxury using this cloth for a spa-like bath experience.
Double Basket weave Cloth
I like this cloth when I have a bunch of messy dishes to wash. Because it's thicker, I don't feel like I'm sticking my hand in a greasy mess. This cloth is easy for beginners to make and even though it's thicker, you can get two of these beauties out of one ball of yarn.
Hugs and Kisses Cloth
This pattern is a little bit trickier than the basic Grandma's dishcloth but it's an easy way to try your hand at knitting cables for the first time. You only need one ball of yarn and the cables aren't too difficult. So you can give it a whirl and if you decide cables are the worth thing on the face of the earth, you don't have a lot of time or money invested in the project.
Try knitting one of these dishcloths today. They are an easy on-the-go project that you can slip into your purse. Dishcloths inexpensive and teamed with soaps and other toiletries, they make great gifts. Dishcloths are also a great knitting charity project.
