Lion Brand Yarn Comes Through for Charity Knitters

Even if you don't use Lion Brand yarn, you'll be amazed at their resources for charity knitters!

We've talked about Lion Brand Yarn on this site before, and with good reason! Most yarn companies have websites with downloadable patterns, tips and hints, etc. But Lion Brand goes a step further and creates a real haven for charitable knitters. If you haven't checked out their many resources, you're missing a treat.

1. Charity Connection

For charitable knitters, one of the best things Lion Brand yarn has to offer is its charity connection. Charities from around the world send in their calls for donations and members, allowing you to browse literally thousands of different knitting charities!

Of course, the Charity Connection has its downside: some of the charities don't provide many details, and the archives aren't cleaned out very often, so some of the postings are outdated (in other words, you still need me). But if you're looking for a specific charity, a free pattern, or publicity for your charity, you can't beat the Charity Connection.

Lion Brand yarn offers one other exciting benefit: the opportunity to read and share stories about charitable knitting with other knitters around the globe. It's a great place to hook up with a community of other knitters.

2. Blogs

Lion Brand runs two blogs: YarnCraft and Lion Brand Notebook. YarnCraft is a fun, trendy blog full of cute knitting patterns and cool ideas, while Lion Brand Notebook is a dreamier, more story-oriented treasure trove of ideas and patterns. Whichever appeals to you, you're sure to find fun ideas for charity, personal, and friendly knitting.

3. Club Finder

Looking for a group of like-minded knitters? Lion Brand yarn also features a section of their site called Club Finder. You can enter your postal code, areas of interest, keywords, or what have you and let Lion Brand search for a club within your area. Part of a club looking for new members? Why not sign up and let potential knitters find you?

4. And more!

What else does Lion Brand offer on their site? Free knitting and crochet patterns, instructions on knitting and crocheting, FAQs on knitting and crocheting, podcasts, e-cards, and... well, you get the idea. Lion Brand yarn has definitely captured the spirit of the 21st century knitter!
