Knitting Charities: Plant Seeds of Kindness in The Garden State

Join together and help the knitting charities of New Jersey care for their less fortunate

Knitting charities abound in the Garden State just as the beautiful flowers this states is known for. Join with the kind-hearted knitters of New Jersey and plant seeds of kindness and caring as you help others in need.

Hats for the Homeless

Hats for the Homeless began when John Carroll died suddenly in 1998. Who was John Carroll? He was a man who cared for those less fortunate and had a heart for the homeless. Hats for the Homeless was created to carry on the memory of John Carroll and all the good he did in his lifetime.

This organization can use hats, scarves, mittens that they give to the homeless in their area to help keep them warm. Knit for charity and send your knitted donations to:

Clifton Cares

Years ago, it came to the attention of Steven Hatals that children in Clifton, New Jersey were coming to school without warm clothing. To fill this need, Steven formed the non-profit organization call Clifton Cares to make sure that children have the warm clothing they need.

The families that Clifton Cares helps are referred by the school principals, teachers, and guidance counselors who work with these children every day. They collect all types of clothing but would appreciate any gloves, mittens, hats, sweaters and baby sets you care to donate. Please send your donations to:

Goodwill Homes and Missions, Inc. & Lighthouse Community Center

Goodwill Homes and Missions and the Lighthouse Community Center both serve the homeless in their community. They help both homeless men and women in many ways but one of those ways is by providing warm clothing. They greatly appreciate any donations of hand-knit items you care to make. They can especially use hats, sweaters, mittens, scarves, and blankets and appreciate you knitting for charity.
