Knitting Blogs Lead to a Different Kind of Fun and Games
If you've ever wanted to exercise a more academic approach to knitting, there are knitting blogs on your side
When you think of knitting blogs, you probably imagine a place to find knitting patterns, chat with other knitters, and check out other people's projects. What you probably don't expect to find is a pile of fun and games. But believe it or not, there are a number of knitting blogs that either provide or link to some fairly unique knitting activities.
The Daily Knitter
The Daily Knitter is one of those knitting blogs that almost everyone knows, if only because they have such a strong presence online. However, they also have links to some interesting activities that can help you practice your knitting terminology -- or put what you think you know to the test!
First of all, The Daily Knitter provides two crossword puzzles. Even if you're a knitting pro, some of the clues are extremely challenging. For example, did you know there was a yarn name that came from the French word for caterpillar? If you didn't, you'll have to find out in a hurry if you want to complete this puzzle.
Many blogs feature topical puzzles and games, so it's no surprise to find them on knitting blogs. Somehow, though, we never think to look for them. The Daily Knitter also has a good word search, which, while still pretty thorough, is a little easier than the crosswords (making it a better choice for younger knitters, too).
Perfect Puzzles
If you run your own knitting blogs, you might be interested in setting up a jigsaw puzzle to go along with your tips and advice. If that's the case, Jigzone can help you out. You can do a knitting jigsaw puzzle online, or use it on your very own website. Jigzone also features links to knitting blogs that use their puzzles.
Do It Yourself
If none of these puzzles satisfy you, you want your own unique content for your blog, or you just can't get enough of clues and crosswords, don't despair: you can make your very own knitting puzzles. There are many websites dedicated to helping you create puzzles online. One of the best is Discovery Education, which lets you build a wide variety of puzzles and activities.
Of course, if you go that route, you'll have to come up with your own hints and clues -- that or be content with puzzles you find online. But a master of knitting blogs such as you should have no trouble with that!
