Knit Poncho Patterns
3 knit poncho patterns for charitable causes
Are you looking for knit poncho patterns? Ponchos are a wonderful thing to knit for charity because they're easy to knit, they can be adapted to fit any size - and yes, there are even knit poncho patterns that are suitable for men!
THREE KNIT PONCHO PATTERNS
1. This first knit poncho pattern is so easy (and if you've visited any other pages on this site, it may sound familiar, too, because it's the basic 'dishcloth' pattern, all dressed up!
Using large needles (12+) and any kind, color and texture of yarn or wool, cast on 3 stitches. Increase one stitch at the beginning of each row, until the poncho width fits 'from wrist to wrist' on the potential recipient. (You can get an idea by measuring yourself, a small child and a teenager, for example). Cast off. Make another one of these triangles, and then sew them together, leaving out the neck hole. How easy is THAT for a knit poncho pattern?
2. The second knit poncho pattern is almost as easy. Using large needles again (this makes the poncho knit up fast!) cast on 80 stitches. Knit every row until the piece can wrap around you from your waist, over your shoulder, and back down to 'meet' itself. Cast off, and then sew that cast off edge to the SIDE of the edge where you cast on.
3. The third knit poncho pattern is actually a repeat of #2, except that you knit two of those rectangles, then, holding them together lengthwise, sew from the outside in (shoulder seams), leaving a space to put your head through.
All of these knit poncho patterns will knit up quickly and easily - yet you can be creative by varying the colors, the type and the textures of yarn to make a completely different poncho every time!
