Knit for Charity...in the Nude?
Learn how these ladies raise money and knit for charity without a stitch on
Okay...we all love to knit for charity. I do and I know you do too or you wouldn't be here! We love warming the hearts and bodies of those in need with our knitted creations. We admit it -- we would do just about anything to raise support and money for our favorite knitting charities. But...would you do this?
Knit for charity -- naked?
All right. These ladies have not lost their minds and they are not ladies of ill repute; they are simply ladies who are willing to go the extra mile to raise money for their favorite charity -- The Christie.
It all started when one of my favorite knitting groups, the Knitting Noras, decided to support The Christie, a cancer hospital, after one of their members successfully recovered from cancer after treatment at the hospital.
Bold women for a wonderful cause
The 70-member group consists of knitters ranging from 10-years-old to 60-years-old who love knitting for charities. After deciding to support The Christie with their knitting efforts, they thought they could not only raise money by selling their knitting projects, but they could also give the knitting image a boost.
To prove they aren't a bunch of 'old biddies' sitting around the fireplace knitting, they chose to put together a calendar they could sell to raise money. The catch? The calendar features them completely naked except for being tastefully covered with their knitting creations.
The entire community of Manchester has come together for the benefit of this project. Local companies provided free studio space and photography along with free printing of the calendar. Manchester-based Evolution printed the calendar free of charge in honor of two of their employees who currently have cancer. Sadly, Sarah Richards, the co-founder of the Knitting Noras passed away due to breast cancer during the project.

Unconventional...maybe. But you have to admit, when the Knitting Noras decide to raise money and knit for charity, they give their all!
