Knit for Charity with Knitting Blogs

Check out some of the best knitting blogs for charity.

There are hundreds of knitting blogs out there -- you can see a lot of them in an earlier post of mine (link to earlier knitting blogs post)! But we charitable knitters are looking for something special: a knitting blog that shares tips, ideas, and hints for knitting for charity. Never fear though: here are some of the very best of charitable knitting blogs.

Why blogs? Well, there are many reasons. A blog -- at least a well-maintained blog -- constantly offers new information and ideas. Unlike websites, which you visit once or twice before you've gleaned what they have to offer, blogs are always offering something new.

Blogs also offer a chance for people with common interests to chat, discuss, and offer helpful advice and suggestions. The great thing about blogs is that they often combine the best elements of a website and a forum: you can find information more easily than in a forum, but you can also chat with others.

1. Knitting For Charity

It's a shameless plug, but how could I not put my blog first?!

2. Knit Unto Others:

Knit Unto Others is a fun knitting blog with a charitable bent. It lists charities, tracks progress, links you to fellow knitters, and even offers prizes for charitable knitters! If you're looking for some knitting fun online, Knit Unto Others is definitely worth checking out.

3. K2Tog:

K2Tog is a charitable knitting blog with many different charities and project ideas. It's updated sporadically, but the archived blogs are worth checking out for ideas, charities, and projects.

4. Subversive Knitting:

Like so many others, Subversive Knitting updates sporadically, but it usually contains good information about current charitable initiatives. This site offers the occasional hint or tip, but the bulk of its information centers on the philosophy and motivation behind knitting for charity.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find really good knitting blogs with a focus on charity. That's why I started mine, after all! It's far more common to find knitting blogs or personal blogs with occasional posts on charitable knitting. That's fine, too, of course -- it just involves a little more searching!

Or maybe you're inspired now, and you want to start your own knitting blog. That's great! You can start out for free on many sites across the web. Who knows? Yours might be the next featured knitting blog on Knitting for Charity!
