Knitting for charity and fun

If you happen to be a Joss Whedon fan or a fan of his series 'Firefly' you already know what a 'Jayne Hat' is. If not, Firefly was a popular sci-fi series in which the main character, Jayne Cobb, receives a knitted hat from his mother -- hence the name 'Jayne Hat.' The non-profit organization founded in 2007 is called The Austin Browncoats and needs knitted Jayne Hats to sell. This group of fun people works to end violence and discrimination in all sectors of life.

Currently they need knitters to knit these great Jayne Hats. The hats sell and the money used goes to Kids Need To Read. For every three Jayne hats you knit, the Browncoats raise $100 to donate to Kids Need To Read, Equality Now and assorted other charities.

If you're interested in knitting for charity and helping out the Browncoats, they supply you with a starter kit. You have the choice of choosing a starter kit consisting of the Jayne hat pattern and yarn or just the pattern. In other words, donate your time or your time and the yarn. To donate, contact the Browncoats.

Whether you donate your time or your time and yarn, knitting for charity has never been more fun or helpful. Start knitting for charity toady, help kids in need. When you knit for charity, discover fun, help others, and feel good.
