How To Make A Few Bucks With Your Knitting Skills

Today is Frugal Friday...

Fortunately, for those of us that knit for charity, our biggest investment is our time. And since our time is spent doing something that makes us all warm and fuzzy inside, it doesn't really seem like an investment at all. So that brings us to the actual dollars spent supporting our 'habit'.

Would you like to make a few extra bucks to go towards your next basket full of goodies at the craft supply store?

At Fiverr.com, you can utilize your vast resources of trial and error knowledge to help others with issues they may face when pursuing their own knitting bliss. And they will pay you for it! How sweet is that?

Or, another way to profit from joining the Fiverr group is by selling tokens you hand craft yourself (as long as you make sure to keep up with your charity projects). :-)

Look around -- you may find some other projects (or gigs as they call it) that you may want to invest $5 on -- or some projects that you'd like to offer $5 for.

So there you go. Check it out and go nuts in the sale aisle to stretch your five bucks even further.

And by the way, if you're good at creating short knitting tips videos, please email me by hitting the reply button, and let me know. We're looking for someone to create some useful and fun one to two minute knitting tip videos for our KnittingForCharity.org website.

Did you know...

What a knitting knobby is? It's a tool for making knitted cord. Knitting knobbies originated with a large wooden spool from sewing thread, 4 small nails and a large darning or blunt point needle. The nails were hammered into the spool and yarn wrapped around. You find one here

Today's Featured Tip...

Having the right background sound when working on a project is crucial for optimum results. Ok, maybe crucial is a bit dramatic, but it does really make a difference.

Here are some of my suggestions for different needle dancing:

Anything by the Black Eyed Peas when you are making something fun and flirty. (Think lopsided beanie to wear with your little black dress...)

Halleluiah by Rufus Wainwright when working on throws or shawls in light earth tone colors. (For some reason, I associate those colors with angels and cherubs)

Instrumental Brahms lullaby's for the times you are doing some baby blankets for the newborn preemies at your local hospital

The instrumental beats and odd sounds of the Blue Man Group are awesome to have blasting when you are having one of those days where you fire out one finished project after another. The music really keeps you moving but has a nice smattering of more laid back sounds to keep you from melting your yarn or needles.

And for the times you are doing your part to help support the worlds latest natural disaster victims, nothing beats the "in your face sounds" of Queen.

So what is your favorite knitting music? Please email me and let me know, and we'll include additional suggestions in future issues.
