Fun Free Knitting Projects for Home or Charity

The best of the web for free knitting projects you're bound to love.

If you get bored easily, it's time you checked out some of the fun free knitting projects on the web! You'll be amazed at what people come up with when it comes to yarn, needles, and thread. From toys to crazy afghans, there's sure to be something fun to hold your attention among these free projects.

1. Footsie

Come on, haven't you always wanted a pillow you could stick your feet into? During the day it can double as a pretty felted pillow on your couch, and at night you can toss it on the floor, stick your feet into the holes, and....

Okay, it is a little weird. But it's a lot of fun, too -- the perfect project for a children's hospital, perhaps!

2. Chicken Viking Hat

It's always fun when someone posts free knitting projects based on making your head look like food. This would be a great project for a teen -- Grandma might not be quite as appreciative about having her head look like a plucked Christmas dinner.

3. Toy Squid

The perfect gift for fish-loving youngsters, hospitalized children who need a laugh, or overseas orphans who might actually recognize a squid when they see one! Berroco comes through again with free knitting projects that will make you shake your head and children laugh out loud.

. Kitty Bath mitt

Lion Brand has come up with a unique and cute bath mitt you can knit! They're pretty specific about what kind of yarn you should use, and while you don't necessarily have to buy Lion Brand yarn, I would STRONGLY recommend using something that won't interact badly with water (perhaps cotton?).

5. Angora Knit Bunny

Whoever came up with these free knitting projects obviously shares my sense of humor, because I love the idea of knitting a bunny with yarn taken from a bunny! The finished product is very cute -- perfect for a young child.

6. Lion Backpack

This very cute little backpack is great for kids just starting school (you could check to see if your local schools accept donations for students who can't afford school supplies -- many do!).

Whether you're knitting for yourself or for charity, it's always fun to broaden your horizons. These are just a few of the creative free knitting projects on the web!
