Fun Free Knitting Patterns for Scarves
If you love scarves, check out these free knitting patterns
With summer approaching, your quest for free knitting patterns might not involve scarves. That's more of a winter thing, right? Or at least fall. Spring, sure. But who knits scarves in summer? Well, with these free knitting patterns, you can knit scarves all year long.
I love knitting scarves because:
* they're fast
* they're easy
* they don't require a lot of attention
* you can get creative from a single basic pattern
* people are always putting out fun free knitting patterns online
In the summer, of course, you're not going to knit a heavy woolen scarf. You'll knit something lighter: pretty, with a fresh feel. In other words, an accessory: something completely pointless and unpractical. Sometimes, those are the most fun to knit anyway.
In my search for scarves and free knitting patterns, I turned up a remarkable selection -- a selection I couldn't resist sharing with all of you. Here are the best of the free knitted scarves I found online:
-The Spectrum Scarf: This pattern used alpaca to make a pretty lacy scarf that would probably be a little too warm for summer. I love the look of it, though, and you could just as easily make it with a lighter cotton yarn.
-The Ribbon Scarf: This interesting knitting pattern uses ribbons in place of yarn. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but you can bet I will: it sounds like a load of fun. The home site for this scarf, KnitList, has a lot of other great free knitting patterns for shawls and scarves, too.
-The Beach Sarong: Okay, so it's not exactly a scarf. This swimsuit cover up sarong is still one of the coolest free knitting patterns I found on my search. It's pretty, unique, and lots of fun to throw together. I nabbed it from the Knitting on the Net site, which has a few other fun summer projects.
-Crystal Palace Yarns offers a huge selection of over 100 scarves and shawls, not to mention other free knitting projects to keep your needles busy all summer long.
If you love scarves, you probably already wear them all summer long, but you might not have thought about knitting your own lightweight summer wear. You should! No matter what your taste, you're sure to find fun free knitting patterns to suit your scarf personality.
