Fun and Free Baby Blanket Patterns

Free baby blanket patterns for new bundles of joy

That's right: it's time for more free baby blanket patterns! Every time I think I'm done with all this, I find a new charity that needs baby blankets, or one of my friends or relatives is planning for a new bundle of joy.

And guess what? I don't mind at all! When I'm not knitting baby blanket patterns, I think I don't like to do it -- but as soon as I get into it again, I remember everything that's so fulfilling about baby knitting. I mean, it's quick to work up, it's cute, and you know it's going to find an incredibly cute and grateful home.

So here are some new baby blanket knitting patterns, all free and all guaranteed to make people coo with admiration.

Free knitting patterns for you to enjoy!

Here are my current favorite free knitting patterns for baby blankets.

1. Baby Stork Sack Cocoon

This is the height of cuteness and practicality. It's like a cozy sack for your baby. And best of all, you knit the whole thing in the round, so there aren't any uncomfortable seams or rough patches, and you don't have to sew anything together. This is a perfect project.

2. Moon and Stars Blanket

See, THIS is why I love baby blanket patterns! You can do so many cute, simple, and easy things that turn out absolutely adorable. This blanket has a pattern of stars and moons worked right into the squares, making a very subtle but still distinctive style.

3. Noopy's Lovey

In spite of the somewhat cheesy name, you won't believe how soft and cute this little toy is. It's a combination stuffy and blanket, so you get the best of both world: it's warm to wrap up in and comforting to cuddle. It brings new meaning to cute free knitting patterns.

4. Soft 'n Simple Baby Blanket

This pattern reminds me of Neopolitan ice cream! It really is just a simple style made with soft 'n simple yarn (though really you could use anything). These are great basic baby blanket knitting patterns to work with and add your own touches.

5. Reversible Celtic Pattern

This pattern is kind of complicated (and the download does contain a few errors, so make sure you take note of the corrections on the download page) but the results are well worth it. This yields a gorgeous, professional style blanket no one will believe you made yourself.

Any one of these patterns would make a perfect baby gift -- and an even better charity donation! Imagine an impoverished, frightened family receiving one of these gorgeous pieces of crafts(wo)manship -- well, you see what I mean. Enjoy these free baby blanket patterns, no matter what use you put them to!
