Free Knit Patterns for the Holidays

It's Not Too Early to Start Searching for Free Knit Patterns for the Holidays

I know, some of you haven't even thought about starting your shopping, let alone starting your search for free knit patterns for the holidays. But unless you're one of those super-speedy knitters who can turn out a pair of socks in an evening, it's time you checked these out! Otherwise, you won't have them ready until the Holidays are over.

So with that in mind, here are some wonderful free knit patterns for the holidays, ornaments and decorating purposes -- just in case you're starting to get in the spirit.

1. Tree Skirt

I love tree skirts -- tree stands are just too unattractive. But when I got up to about seven tree skirts, my husband said that enough was enough. No problem now, though, I knit one instead! This pattern uses triangles sewn together into a circle, and while it's not extremely difficult, it's probably not a good pattern for a beginner.

2. Knitted Gift Tags

Okay, they're actually supposed to be Christmas tree ornaments, but I use these free knit patterns to make extra add-ons for my Christmas gifts. They're unique, quick, and oh-so-simple. They add a special touch to just about any present.

3. Knitted Bead Ornaments

These dazzling ornaments for your Christmas tree involve knitting with beads and shaping the finished product around a Styrofoam ball. It might sound complicated, but once you get going it's simple to churn out a dozen of these in a short time. They look absolutely warm and shimmery under the lights of the tree.

4. Quick Gingerbread Ornaments

I love the look of gingerbread ornaments, but in my house, they're gobbled up as quickly as they're hung on the tree. These free knit patterns are my solution to the sweet tooth. This fast, easy to knit gingerbread ornament is definitely NOT edible -- at least, not as far as human appetites. The cat, on the other hand, seems to find them quite tasty.

5. Super Fast Jingle Bells

These are the king of last minute Christmas decorating ideas - original, fast, and easy. Jingle bells make the perfect addition to any Christmas gift, stocking, or tree. I always make a bundle for charity craft sales.

6. The World's Easiest Wreath

If you can knit an I-cord, this wreath will take you about ten minutes to make. If you can't, add another three minutes to learn the I-cord process. Regardless, you can turn out a pile of these in a matter of hours. Perfect for last minute decorating, gifts, children's projects, and craft sales.

Remember, it's not too early to check out these free knit patterns for the holidays!
