Community Yarn Creations Shares the Joy of Crafting with Others!
Whatever your passion, Community Yarn Creations can help you find a charity it’ll benefit.
Community Yarn Creations is a group near Seattle in Washington State. They donate a wide variety of knitted and crocheted items to local organizations and families in need. No matter where you are, though, Community Yarn Creations will happily accept your donations and spread your generosity around.
Blossoming From Tragedy
Lately, Community Yarn Creations has focused on cancer donations to the tragic death of their founder, Nan Sarb. After surviving two bouts with cancer, Nan finally succumbed to the disease. Unwilling to let her dreams die with her, Community Yarn Creations carries on the tradition Nan started!
Nan Sarb began knitting as a way to regain mobility in her arms after a long chemo session. She started Community Yarn Creations and, before she knew it, had over 200 registered volunteers! Never one to sit on her laurels, Nan promptly began a website, pulled together patterns, and created a newsletter to help those in need.
Monthly Mania
Community Yarn Creations has a somewhat unique approach to the world of charitable knitting. Each month, they pick a different charity or organization and assemble a list of suggested patterns and products. At the beginning of the month, they send out a newsletter with this information, and the community gets to work!
If you live in the Seattle area, you would be more than welcome to join this dedicated group of knitters and crocheters. Even if you don’t, however, they would welcome your donations. Visit the Community Yarn Creations website at www.communityyarncreations.org and sign up for their newsletters!
