Charity Knitting For Fun and Profit
Looking for more ideas in charity knitting? Try these fun tips
If you love charity knitting as much as I do, the looming end of winter is no excuse to stop knitting. After all, it's always cold somewhere -- and there's always someone who will appreciate a handknit friendly gesture.
But if you're starting to lose your steam when it comes to charity knit projects, never fear: here are some great ways to rekindle your love affair with knitting for charity.
1. Don't go it alone
Experts say you're more likely to stick with an exercise program if you start one up with a friend. The same goes for knitting, of course! If you want to keep up with local knitting charities, check in with local church groups, Unicef projects, and other organizations to see if there's a charity knitting circle in your own town that you've been missing out on. You might find a pleasant surprise!
Failing that, recruit some of your friends. Knitters have to stick together.
2. Try something new
If you've spent the last five years knitting afghan squares, no wonder you're ready for a change. Check out some of the many knitting charities on this website for new ideas, projects, and inspirations. And don't feel guilty about 'abandoning' the charity you've worked with for so long. Volunteers come and go in any charitable organization. It's expected, and no one will hold it against you.
3. Go local
It could be that charity knit projects for overseas orphans have lost their thrill because you never see the results. If that's the case, why not take a break and try doing some charity knitting closer to home? Check with local hospitals, homeless shelters, and the like to see if your skills might find an appreciative home in your very own community. There's nothing like personal contact to revitalize your knitting passion.
4. Treat yourself
If you always spend your time knitting for charity and for other people, it might be time to spend a few minutes knitting something for yourself. There's no shame in taking a break from charity to indulge your own craftiness. After all, if you're not refreshed and enthusiastic, how can you give your best to your charitable projects?
It's easy to get worn down, so don't let it happen to you. Use these suggestions to refresh your passion for charity knitting.
