Caring Connecticut Knitting Charities
Help others in need with these Connecticut knitting charities
If you love knitting and live in the Connecticut area, you will love these knitting charities. These caring Connecticut charities have something for everyone - Native Americans, NYC Firefighters, breast cancer patients, inner city children and needy families. Look over these charities and see which one is right for you.
Global Peace Socks Project
Susan Rogers has a mission, but she can't do it alone. She has been singlehandedly knitting what she refers to as 'peace socks' and donating them to a knitting charity called 'Adopt-A-Native-Elder'. This charity exists to build a bridge of hope between Native Americans and other cultures.
Susan enjoys supplying her much-appreciated hand-knit socks to the elders but now expanded her charity knitting to include women with breast cancer and NYC Firefighters. She realizes she can't do this alone so asks for donations of 100% wool yarn in adult sizes small, medium, or large.
Send your donations to:
Susan Rogers
128 Francis St.
New Britain, CT 06053
There are no color restrictions and attach a tag with your name, address, and message of hope. You may also designate which charity you want your socks to go to.
St. Mary's knitters
This group of lovely ladies knit scarves, hats, mittens or any other type of clothing that will keep infants through adults warm. The lucky recipients are the patients of the Children's Health Center at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. This clinic is an inner city pediatric clinic and many of the patients are new to the cold climate of Connecticut or just don't have warm clothing.
These ladies and the recipients appreciate any hand-knit items you would like to donate. Contact KateLinnea@hottmail.com for the mailing address.
The Box Project
The Box Project helps Mississippi families in need. Choose to adopt a family, an elderly person or couple, or play Santa for a family. Knitted caps, scarves, mittens, and sweaters are needed and much appreciated. For an information packet about knitting for charity and helping these needy families, write to:
